Looking Back On 2016

I can't believe it's almost time to close the book on 2016, it feels like we've only just started! I think it's safe to say that it has been quite a year. Plenty of ups and downs, but looking back on the year, it seems to be one of the best so far for so many reasons. I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter of my life in 2017. But first, here's why 2016 has been great...

Friendships
This year has brought me so many new friendships and has strengthened many old ones. I've had so many amazing opportunities to meet internet friends this year and I'm so grateful for that! The feeling of hugging someone for the first time after speaking through a screen is just so special. Some of the friends in the collage, I only met this year for the first time and that feels unreal. I feel like I've known them a lifetime. Even though they live so far away, I'm so lucky to be able to spend time with them whenever possible.
Concerts
I'd say that 2016 has been a quiet year for concerts for me, I usually go to quite a few! An important one for me this year however was Rachel Platten. Seeing her live for the first time was absolutely incredible, and if you've seen my previous posts then you will know that I was lucky enough to meet her as well later in the year! This concert was also the first time I met a couple of my internet friends, the mutual love for Rachel brought us together.
I also saw Ellie Goulding for the 4th time, which I also wrote a post about! It was great to see how shes progressed in the 6 years since I first saw her live. Finally I saw Lucy Spraggan (also for the 4th time!) and that was amazing! It was a really intimate gig and I even got to meet her at the end!
Holidays
This year I was able to return to Benidorm again with my uni girls and it was fantastic. It feels like home in that hotel now! I miss it so much and want to go back already! I was also lucky enough to go on a free trip to Paris, courtesy of Boohoo and my bestie Ashton who chose to take me along. I'd never been to Paris before so it was a wonderful experience and even better to spend it with my best friend.
Closer to family
I feel like I've become so much closer to my family this year, arguments have become less often and we spend loads more time together. I think moving away to university made a huge impact on our relationships so I'm incredibly glad that I did it!
Boyfriend
2016 has brought me an amazing man who I love to pieces! He treats me like an absolute princess and I love spending time with him and his family. I'm excited to begin 2017 with him by my side!
Recovery
This year has been huge for me in recovery. I've been discharged! I am completely free of appointments and meal plans! After so many years of being dragged down by mental illness, this year has been a huge step and I am finally strong enough to fight by myself. The difference in me is incredible! I'm happy, healthy and I go out to eat and socialise more than ever! Recovery is a wonderful thing. I'm ready to start 2017 a fresh!
University
After coming extremely close to dropping out in 1st year, I am so glad I continued with my degree. This year I took a huge leap and moved into a house with my friends and I can honestly say that it changed my life! I had a whole new outlook on my life and degree, and that is the reason why I'm now doing a masters course. I'm really proud of myself for making it this far! I'm also really thankful for the amazing friends that I've made along the way who have kept me (relatively) sane throughout the years- I really think I've gained some lifelong friends.
Blog
Before this year, I'd never even thought about creating a blog but I'm so glad I did! It's only a little blog and it may not get many page views, but I really enjoy writing my posts! I've been able to come up with so many ideas for different posts while also having the opportunities to attend various events! I'd say it's pretty good considering I only started out less than a year ago! I love my blog and to everyone who is reading this- I love you guys, thanks for your support!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Here's to 2017! 🍷🎉

  2. However, there were fantastic times in the year where you made me happy and made me laugh (as you always do). :-)
